giac asks the boost to ramp up to quick but in the end they for the same max boost to be held.
The surging could be from something else, my personal experience was due to programing, and the others I have witnesed were the same programing issue.

I'm not so sure about that. I run a N75-J and while it helped, it did not stop all of the surging. I've run APR for the K03 and GIAC for my K04 setup and APR spiked only slightly less than the GIAC K04. There are so many other factors that can contribute to surging, I'd be hesitant to blame it all on specific programming.
My friend runs the K04 with FMIC/injectors/GiAC J31 program and it is very smooth, power much lower in the RPM band and much better throttle response at any speed. No comparison to my NDBW standard KO4 setup (stock intake, 710N, n75J, borla, K04, 5bar FPR, GIAC). It was as smooth as stock, but much more powerful.

the chip is $599 with free lifetime upgrades.
But im not positive about them having K04-015 programing, wich i am a little worried about. they ahve their custom K04 programing, but the custom K04 costs almost 2 grand.
And their Bosch injectors are big bucks too.
But im prob going to just stick with the K03, add a FMIC, and be happy for a while, until i can build the engine and go with a bigger turbo, im thinking the 330 or 360 hp kit, much more than that id need the 6 speed, somthing i dont want to invest in.

but again, there are so many factors that can contribute to surging. I've seached the archives for hours on this and there are many different reasons why people have had surging issues and just as many solutions.
My set-up surges hard below 3500 RPMs, solution: never get to deep into the throttle below 4000 RPMs. We aren't talking 350+hp here so 4000 still gives you enough room in 3rd-5th. Gear selection is key.
Other things I've noticed w/ the K04 are:
boost doesn't hold well in 2nd gear, but will hold fine (17+ routinely) in 3rd-5th
fuel quality and octane level makes a bigger difference, running 94 octane is noticably better than 93 IF outside temps are cool. I still would like to run some 100 octane or toluene to see if it is a noticable difference.
day-to-day performance varies more than with a chipped K03 set-up, probably due to environmental factors and pushing more air
All said and done, I still vastly prefer the K04 set-up to chipped K03.
