I have a 1998 A4 2.8 Quattro with 49,000 miles. During the winter when I started the engine, after the car was sitting outside, there was a noise that sounds to me like a duck quacking. Recently, I hear the sound when ever the car has been for a while, and regardless of outside temperature. I also notice binding in the steering while hearing the noise. My guess is their some problem with the Serpentine Belt and/or related hardware. Any suggestions? Thanks

either that or take a little dielectric grease and put a little layer on the belt (with the engine off, of course) then fire it up and listen. That's usually a safe way to determine belt noise.
