Default shocks...

2001 A4 Sport package, I have H&R sport springs on it and I'm starting to hear funny noises from the front drivers side. My car has about 85k miles, and the shocks are the sport package, stock. Is it time for new ones? How many miles can you get out of shocks? thx

Default Upgrade shocks

Running oem shocks with aftermarket springs isn't a good idea, get some bilsteins or konis

Default Might also be a control arm issue.

But at 85k there's a good chance the shocks are also gone. I had factory sports shocks and when I pulled them off at 71k to put on Bilsteins, the fronts had very little damping action left in them.

Default on the topic..

What can you do if the nut from the shock mount/control arm is touching the spring?

Default uh well on the shock mount underside ..

there are 2 arms either side of the spring..the nuts that hold one of the arm to the shock mount are making contact with the spring...dont no if this clears the picture

Default Sort of groking it, but can't imagine how

unless you've got a really funky spring, spring mount or mounting bolt. A photo would help a lot...

Default

That doesn't sound right, control arm should not be hitting spring
