Default you are correct...there is a "ball" in the non push down shifters

that UUC machined too small. This ball pivoots inside a rounf housing, but being machined too smal for this housing, there is play in just about every direction. I haven't done the zip tie mod yet...I will do it soon adn install the AWE cartridge bearing while I'm at it, but the Neuspeed felt amazing when I drove one. I didn't mind the feel of the lower height, but the look doesn't appeal to some people here.

Default Yea, i'm sure i could get used to it too...

If one of my friends asks me which one to get...which i'm sure he'll do here within a few months...i'll tell him to get the neuspeed. Only because i know I'LL be the one who installs it...and i really don't feel like manually filing down the plastic again, that was almost as big of a bitch as the circlip!

Default Gratuitous naked pic...

of a stock vs. Neuspeed shifter:
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/12130/neu_ss.jpg">

If you have a push-down reverse, the Neuspeed gets rid of it.

One thing that I will note, is that if you're planning on getting a different shift **** than stock, some models are taller than stock. I have a Momo Shadow shift **** and on the stock shifter it drove me nuts because it was so tall. The neuspeed brought it back down to sane levels.

Default doesnt look that bad, I kinda like it, thats the preference thing I guess, but

if you are willing to give up proper fit, and build quality for looks, then maybe the issue of a shorter throw is not that important either(20% vs. 35%). So performace wise and fitment wise Neuspeed is better. Then it would mean you are telling him to get a new shifter for looks? I understand getting Wheels for looks, but a SS is to improve driving...Id go with the best performing shifter, that fits my car the best.

Default See..thats the thing though.

I've not had any probs with my UUC...so i don't see a build quality issue or ANY probs really. I'm telling him that if he installs it correctly...he will not have a problem. I'm speaking on behalf of myself who has done the UUC install a few times and not seen any probs and others who have obviously done the install correctly too...because they have had no problems.

If you don't like the way the neuspeed looks...then thats just that. No way around it really...except to get the UUC and follow the directions word for word haha.

I do honestly wish my throw would be reduced 35% instead of 20%...oh well...i'm happy none the less. Either of them is better than stock!

Default Seems to me its kinda hit or miss...which is fine if you have a lot of money to play with

why not just buy something that works well at a high percentage of the time...if you hate the height you can always get a taller shiftknob....but thats a small price to pay to get a seemingly better product. I guess I can say that cuz I really dont mind the looks, it looks fine in Sals, and Foo's car. But again thats MHO.

Default point taken....not too late to get in on the Group buy :o)

in the end it is an issue of preference and using the product correctly. So I think as long as you are happy with what you are shifting with, then there is no issue. I guess alot of peeps complaint about UUC may not be their fault. As in most complaints there are many factors in why its not going well. I just havent heard many utter a word about Neuspeed's shifter, except, I dont like the height. If thats it I can definately live with it.

Default Of course, the ideal to me is a combo of the two. The reduced throw length of the UUC w/ reduced...

...height of the Neuspeed. Yeah, that'd be prime.

Default

I'd rather have the reduced throw of the Neuspeed...with the stock height of the UUC
