Default Yes, their engineering assessment was that...

the failure was not caused by either the modification or the install. Basically an "act of God" according to them.

Default that sucks. if they couldn't find fault, they should've at least covered half for another one

or at their cost of parts.

Default But with a core exchange, wasn't it an act of God on parts they sent you...

Which were not originally parts of your car? OEM parts as they may be, they're not YOUR OEM parts.

Default Response to both: went down that road.

They didn't buy the logic. Took almost six weeks to get a verdict from engineering with weekly inquiries. Couldn't wait that long to replace the diff and housing so I got one from Shokan and repaired the car.

In their defense, they did offer to send me a replacement 4:1 diff, which was useless to me at that point because the vehicle had already been un-supercharged in preparation for sale. After the car had been repaired, they offered me my $550 plus a core (now useless to me as well), I asked them to send me an S4 diff instead. That request was refused, so I now have a $550 credit and I told them I didn't want the 5-speed core.

I'll post some additional pics in my pic poster for your viewing pleasure.

Default Update: Was able to go briskly around a few damp corners this morning...

car definatly wants to keep turning where before the front-end would start washing out under throttle...

Default so, they did give you your money back -- just in a credit.

if you have a credit with them, buy another one and sell it to get your money back into your pocket.

Although, why would someone buy it from you for the same price?

Drop the price, and I'd probably bite

Default I *know* I'd bite at a lower price...(to be able to get my own diff back in the car)

not being able to mod my own diff myself is frustrating. That new one-piece diff housing is a b1tch.... This diff I've modded and running has at LEAST 150k on it...

Default Still contemplating doing the S4, enjoyed the 4:1 diff while it lasted.

Probably wait until the RS4 clutch goes out or the trans needs other work. Hesitant to get another diff based on their core though.

Default I understand. but, when it comes to mod'ing cars, stuff breaks. and, as the saying goes:

"you gotta pay to play"

Now that you explained more, it does sound as if they did what they could for you.

If you decide to not put it into your S4, buy one and I'll buy it (for less than $550).
