should I have a trip/MPG meter on my car? what's missing?
i have a 1997 A4Q - 5spd. now i don't have the unique dash display module the later models have. however i do have the small rectangular box that displays the temperature. DIRECTLY above that rectangular box is another rectangular box. nothing lights up or is indicated in that box. is that a dummy box since i don't have an automatic (where it would read the gear. i.e. P, N, 1, 2, R)?

it displays the temp. but the box above it is blank-is that normal?

okay, was the trip computer an option or is my screen malfunctioning?
from the owner's manual it looks like if i had an automatic it would display the gearbox indicator...but i'm not sure.

Kris did you get chance to look at the wiring diagram for my dash lights?
To top it off my air bag light comes on for about 2 mins when i start the car and now the glove box light is out!

Does your car have the little boxes for the 'idiot' lights? If so, you have teh basic dash, and your
car is fine. IF you have one large window above the temp display, then you might have a problem.
