Default Significant Delivery Delays

Hey Audi Fans,
I placed my A4 Avant order at the end of October '98 and am still unable to take vehicle delivery. It has been an eye opening 233 days (90 days quoted) since the order and the dealership has not received this vehicle. Making matters worse is Audi of America's inability to determine what went wrong, they can't even provide a delivery estimate. Anyone experienced similar Audi delivery problems? How long did ity take? How was Audi of America's shortcomings resolved?

Default Delays due to increased sales, new models

I order my second A4 March 25. It is finally scheduled to be built June 21. That is 88 days after order. When I ordered my 98.5 2.8 in November 97 the car was delivered to the dealer on day 89. This was with a long Christmas holiday! I was expecting my 1.8T we be quicker that my first A4 but not the case. Dealer tells me increased sales and more models, TT, A6 4.2, more models using the 1.8T motor.
It just seems too long to wait! I'm hoping for mid July delivery now. I can not believe your long wait. It will be worth it!
Roy M

Default Re: Significant Delivery Delays

I ordered my white A4 Avant back in early October 98 as well. I read that there were 99.5 Avant delays due to a supplier problem at the factory in Germany. I talked with Audi Customer Service yesterday and they are researching what the problem is. I do have a VIN number for my car and I know that it has finally been built, but now the shipping wait begins. I am to hear back from Audi Customer Service today with an update after they have researched the problem. Until then....I continue to wait.

Default Dealer size matters

From my recent experience of buying a vehicle, I have noted that dealer size really matters. Small dealers do not get a large allocation of vehicles (hence, your order might have to wait a few months for that deale'rs next open slot in the factory) and the dealer has little pull with Audi.
Just as an example, many people have recently ordered cars with the dealer telling them they will be MY2000. They must be ordering from SMALL Audi dealers. Audi will be producing 1999.5 for a couple more months. You can still order a 1999.5 from a larger dealer with delivery for September.
