Since the A4's K04 is so much smaller than the TT's K04, and won't mount to the A4's exhaust...

Would that explain why my Avant seems to have boost higher up?

My old '99.0 died at roughly 5800 and my new '01.0 (I think) seems to pull up to red line?

no, 2001.5 is stil k03...the TT 225 is the only 1.8T with a k04

Yes it would. The dbw turbo can make more boost in the higher rpms.
