Default slotted A8 Rotors, Cadmium coating?

I'm looking to upgrade to A8 rotors - I need new pads and rotors.

Can anyone point me to sources for slotted A8 rotors other than ECS tuning and stoptech?

ECS has the "BBS" rotors and the "OEM" rotors. Could someone share thier experience with the BBS rotors? They're $100 cheaper than the OEM rotors. I'm wondering if I can tell the difference between the BBS and OEM rotors.

Stoptech has slotted A8 rotors, but they're not cadmium coated. I searched the archives and read that the cadmium coating isn't really effective at preventing rust anyway. A few people (not only on this board) reported that the cadmium coating seemed to be ineffective after a few hundred miles....

Thanks in advance,
Gary

Default i don't think the coating does much neither...

bbs or oem whatever you decide on get the edges painted before you throw them on if you don't want them to rust. you must use hi-temp paint.

Default Cadium coating will only protect surfaces that are not prone to brake pad wear...

IE. The outer radius of the rotor, and X-drilled or slotted areas.

Default wont work....

some of the high temp paints will not withstand the temps of a rotor.

Default i have cad-plated rotors... they are a slight golden tone. no rust, except on the edge and inside

the croll-drilling. ive seen non-cad plated rotors almost covered in rust near the hub, where mine is still clear.

worth the cad-plating in my opinion.

Default Cadium coating

Hey,

Thanks for the info.

The few posts I found on cadium coating had reports of the rotor rusting out on areas that were not areas where the brake pad contacts - like the edges near the vents.

I'm not sure if this is true or not. If I can find the post, I'll link it.

Thanks,
Gary
