Default if we get snow in PA, then they will come in handy...

more often than not, the forecast calls for snow, and all morons go out to the nearest food market to deplete the shelves, only to get 1/2" or less. That being said, my advice is to watch out for other drivers, who for some reason forget how to drive in less than good conditions.
I'm in the Lehigh Valley, and we get more ice and hard stuff rather than actual accumulation of snow. When to put them on.....probably after Thanskgiving at the earliest.
I use all season tires, and they are just fine....but you GOTTA watch out for them morons who forget how to drive in a little flurry. (which is what we typically get)

Default It is a gamble, and an age-old debate.

It's all about risk/benefit. The benefit is that I get to enjoy good tires 363 days a year. The risk is that on those two days a year, I run a higher chance of accidents. But I can also counter that risk to some degree by driving like a great-grandma and staying off the roads when I can on those two days.

Everybody has their own threshold. I understand and appreciate your point of view. I'm just sharing what works for me.

I've actually been fine on the stock 16s & SP8000s in some serious snow. Just be careful.

Default I thought of that article when RKA & I drove up to NH last Feb. I was hoping for such snow.

Default Remind me to stand on the other side this year, when taking pictures.

Damn lighting screwed up half of the pics!

Default Please don't!!!

I'm not buying snow tires for my car because if I do that will ensure another snow-less year. Really stinks for skiing around here... >
