So after 2K miles of clearing my rear O2 sensor code, the CEL light hasn't reappeared.

Keep in mind, the ECU will store codes that won't necessarily trigger the CEL, so you may have something in there about your fuel trim, and it simply hasn't gone far enough out of spec/passed enough duty cycles to register a CEL.

how much have you actually driven it since then? the sensors need to undergo a certain amount of
cycles before they will throw another code. I know many people that play that game all the time! ;-)
