Default hehe nice. I tried something like that once

actually chickened out because of the tires, but was glad that the car was still pulling the same at 130 than at 100.

did you "creep up" to 160 or did it just get there

Default Dunno The info is based on the calculations of the ratios and the rolling diameter of the

OEM tire size.
Also .. if you look at the full 'chart' the terminal velocity in 3rd seems to match what folks see on the two transmissions and your run (this thread) seems to confirm the number's for the 2.8 box. Also, the rpm at 70 and 80 for 1.8t box seem to match what I recall from mine back in the day.

Here's a paste of those numbers

1.8 5 speed
RPM 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th

Default ok, just re-did some math. it was more like 148mph@7000 RPM for me

of course, the speedo could be off a bit because of tires, and it'll show more at those speeds I supposed (that 1%-2%ish off)

Default Prolly a few percent for tire difference and prolly a few more for the typical speedometer error.

Although, the speedos usually err on the side of reading faster rather than slower. It's pretty easy to get a delta of 8-10 mph at 150-160 mph. Then if you factor in the exchange rate ....
