Default So buyer picked up my A4 yesterday... calls me this morning with problems!!

I had the car for a year and in that time the only problems I had were misfires and replaced coils and ICM. A few times I boosted really hard and put the car into limp mode. I cleaned the MAF and this stopped happening.

I get a call this morning... like 12 hours after the buyer picked up the car. Saying he let the car warm up then started driving and the turbo made a weird noise between 2-3k and when he stopped at a light a large cloud of smoke came from the car. He said he couldn't get the turbo to spool and turned it off and it was making a funny sound. IDK what to tell him since I haven't had anything like this happen to me. I was thinking maybe the car was in limp mode since it wouldn't spool properly but he claims he didn't boost before the car refused to boost. Also it is in the single digits here. I think maybe cracked vacuum lines might be cause because of the cold? I also told him to disconnect the MAF and try it out. If it was in limp mode three suspects would be MAF, N75, Throttle? AEB DBC FYI.

I feel bad and want to help him out if I can. But I also don't know how he has been driving for the last 12 hours...

Default He was obviously pushing it. Don't go near it, don't help him, or

it'll become a mess.

He'll go away soon enough.

Default hmm...

im betting the single digit weather and him getting a new car and boosting like crazy put a toll on the braided frozen vacuum lines and caused a boost leak putting it into limp mode.

hopefully.

could be a turbo

Sounds like the problem lies between the seat and the steering wheel.

Default I hear you but I hope you sold it, AS-IS . . .

Recommend a good mechanic, offer condolences, but DON'T ever see him or the car again.

Default After dealing with the previous owner of my car

as he ignored and destroyed it, let me give you some advice:

Tell him to take it in to a reputable shop, or to diagnoses it himself.

BTW, he blew the turbo.
