1. Illumination does not work, I have to fix it per the tech article.
2. Radio does NOT power down with ignition. No big deal.
3. Strange thing, when the ignition is off and I turn on the radio, 95% of the time all speakers work. If I have the ignition/car on, seems like only the rears want to work. Sometimes, if I turn off the car and then turn on the radio, then turn on the car, all speakers work again. Sometimes, when turning on the car, the radio power cycles and then only the rears work.
So, I love the way it looks. Sounds decent, but this unit has Bose equalization so I need to VAG it and correct that. Any electronics guys got any bright ideas? If I can fix the illumination issue(easy) and fix the fact that the front speakers don't like to come on I'll be happy. Perhaps the front speaker deal is related to the Bose encoding? I have no clue there. TIA and sorry for the run-on post.

From a '02+ TT. It says "US TT/A6" on the top though.
It looks so damn good, I just wish I could get around these CAN-BUS issues. It's hugely annoying that my front speakers don't want to work though. It's like a toss up whether they'll come on. I really hope maybe it's just because it's encoded for Bose. Otherwise it might be a pin-configuration problem. I don't know if I should sell it again and put my Clarion deck in and deal with the cosmetic aspect. Then maybe get a nice component speaker setup F/R with a small sub.

it does look good. did you only want this because it matches
and has an in dash cd? if thats the case, i would go with an aftermarket deck. typically they are more powerful and sound much better than oem decks (i dotn know much about audio stuff though). there is one deck that's aftermarket that looks really really good in an audi..it matches perfectly. i forget the name of it though
