Default So does a Generic OBD2 Reader work for the VAG codes?

Sorry, maybe i'm confused, i haven't used a VAG, but i know that my local Advanced Auto has an OBD2 reader. Will that read / clear all the same codes as the VAG-Com would? I'm not looking for all the graphing and other capabilites of the VAG, i just want to be able to check codes myself, and see about clearing this Airbag light...Thanks...

Default It will read generic codes (OBDII) but OBD is mainly to do with emissions.

I am not sure if it will clear every code. I have the unit from OBDtool.com (about $70) and it seems to read clear all the codes (Audi codes not generic OBD) but has no code lookup so I have to check the code in a Bentley manual.

Default A generic OBD code reader will only do the drivetrain modules, i.e Engine and Transmission

It will not scan any other control modules in the car, only a VAG-Com can do that.
