So here's the results of yesterday's install
This was a friend's personal shop that he owns, all cars included, and was kind enough to let me use it and lend a helping hand...
Got to the shop around 11am, got home around 10:30pm, with the 6 hour round trip drive.
Installation went... too smoothly. There were no issues, no frozen bolts, nothing. To the point it was uncharacteristic of any work I've done to my Audi. I followed Hansen's A6 writeup for the front end which is a snap. I've done enough front end work to know what I was pretty much in for. One word of advice: Don't bother trying to save those body plugs for reuse. You're not going to, so just tear them up.
I also removed the sway bar so I could put new bushings on, which it sorely needed. The old ones where squished and soft. The rear end was just as simple as the front end taking about an hour with each side, most of that spend dicking with the compressor. Oh, and if you plan on doing this job with hand tools, you're insane. There's no way I would ever do this without air tools.
During the install, some local dub guys stopped in with a GTI that was having some... issues. Story short, the crank seal was gone, there were 40 oz of 5W-30 in the power steering tank, and the serp belt was gone because it was so oil soaked. The car was brought in for a parts swap for the shop owner's 2.0 Golf.

I am not making any judgements yet on ride quality and height until it has fully settled over the
next couple of weeks.
Let's just say the difference is night and day.

Back in the day... my friend bought an GN new to resell. I drove that car...
up Lake Shore Drive in Chicago and we would hit the speed limiter way too fast. That car in stock form was a blast to drive spin & smoke at will. Too bad it couldn't stop or turn so well.

well done! and don't knock hand tools. I've done all my motor pulls + suspensions
via hand tools
the one time i used air tools, meh... there just isn't enough space in some of the tighter parts

While that is true, I was talking more about the spring compressor that we used
It was the old, ****ty style. Not a nice, real shop compressor.
Oh well, it got the job done.
