You already have it...

Use a hammer to smack the spindle where the ball joint goes in.

IOW, you don't hit down on the control arm, you hit sideways on the spindle. It will jar the control arm loose.

I know this trick but I couldn't get one side loose this weekend

so I thought I'd check to see if it was somewhat affordable
