I'm just worried about the car staying straight. I remember hearing that ABS helps keep the car in a straight line when you're braking hard. Is it anything to be worried about?

I agree with what you heard though, ABS prevents wheel lockup which could cause the car to go out of line, but if you just revert to threshold braking and minimize wheel lockup that way, you should be fine. Keep in mind that people were driving and tracking cars long before ABS came along.

especially if you run a race pad.
you should be fine just give yourself a little extra room in the brake zones.
