Since I could not get that last piece off the switch to clean the other day without breaking it, I decided to do a quick ecu swap instead. Turned on the key, and tried the roof.. opens and closes without problems! So I swapped the chipped ecu back in, and tried the roof again, no more problem! I was like.. what the ****. My guess is that all I had to do was to pull the battery and reconnect. The central locks controller was probably in shock of the chipped ecu and decided to throw a fit =)

I was so sure that you had done that before you started swapping them. As a rule, it is always best to first disconnect the battery before messing with the ECU.

and I have the radio code, so no need to worry about that.
i was thinking about just doing a battery disconnect test when i first had the problem too, but i dismissed it too quickly cuz it just happened right after ecu swapped, so i assumed that it had something to do with the ecu...
thanks everyone for trying to help!

Sorry, I should have read further in the search results.
How did you pull the ECU, and where is it. Can you give me a quick blow by blow?
Much appreciated.
Thanks, Aaron
