Default So I get this email regarding my car.

Mason,
I got your mail and your price $20,000 well accepted. However, you have to
give us sometime to contact our client on phone,we have been trying his line
for sometime now i believe is switched off.The amount in the check he
deposited for the order is bigger than what should be paid to you, though
it's meant for the total expenses which includes the purchase ,the pick up
and the shipping bills. so we want to know if we shall carry on with that or
if he will make arragement for another check ASAP. he is presently in japan
on a visit.i will get back to you as soon as i conclude issues with
him. Please get back to us as soon as you recieve this.
Thanks
Sam.

This all seems fair enough, but what's the consensus of best form and disbursement of payment? I've seen too many people get burned to just accept that this guy is for real.

Default Assume it's a scam, don't do anything until you get a check.

Open a new account with your bank, then deposit that check into the new account. Once it clears, withdraw the money and then you can send him whatever difference he needs. I am willing to bet money that it's a scam.

Default The check will be written on a legitimate bank that does NOT confirm

account balances or account validity over the phone! An acquaintance got caught up in this scam. Due to AWOT I recognized the plot and told him to wait for the check to clear. It didn't. The account number was bogus.
