What autoparts stores stock pentosin and I read Mobil 1 ATF fluid was fine to use per a thread by Audi Junkie. Is there anything else i can use in an emergency? I have a 500 mile trip ahead of me :-/

How low is it? Using something that's unfriendly to the seals will result in a leaking rack.

Default Super hot fluid from low volume is probally the worst for seals.

So...when can we "renew" the oil faqs? The existing ones are horrible. The simplest would be 5w-40 synth/VW502 recommendation for 1.8t and dino/blend/synth 40 weight for V6 and I-5. And a short explaination of "w"-ratings would put AWers knowledge above 85% of car guys out there. The existing faqs with basestock drivel is so 20th century. Mobil 1 nor any otc oils are PAO (G-IV) base anymore. Honda has a new HT-06 test for the ir turbo 2.3 RDX and many otc oils will carry that spec. Likely a very good oil for 1.8t. Seriously, the currents faqs are tedious, inaccurate, uninformative and out-dated. Must go.

Which ones? If you care to write new FAQ or Tech items, I'll ensure that they replace all others.
