So k03 on ebay = ~$250 oem turbo = ~$750.. WTF?

As does some of the varying opinions. Some folks seem to
think going Chinese is fine as long as the quality is there.
My first reaction is to stay within OEM standards which I think
DOES include WHERE the part was made. If my original parts
are made in Germany, I honestly do not think the level of
craftsmanship in making, nor the materials used are of equal
quality if that part came from China.
Does it really matter where that certain something is really
made these days? Blanket answer... it depends. But if we're to
use history to help guide us, the origin of manufacturer does
indeed make a difference IMO.
It works the other way too... German electronics = not extraordinary.

There's no reason why a Febi factory in China using the same manufacturing processes and machines would be necessarily of lower quality. But, a lot of companies outsource (either the entire part or components of it) instead of setting up their own shop there, and that's where the quality starts to suffer.
Febi control arm is half the price of Lemforder, but just looking at the rubber boot around the ball joint, the Lemforder arm is clearly a higher-quality part.
