Is it getting power? Have you checked for loose connections?

Default Yea I checked yesterday when it did it.

Ground was fine as well as everything at the amp. Figure it was the fuse or fuse holder so unbolted and looked at that and it was fine. Turned the stereo on and it worked. This morning was about 20 minutes into my ride and it cuts out again. The amp is not in power protect mode.

Default Could be thermal protection circuit.

how is the amp mounted? If its a powerful amp and is upside down, like on the underside of the rear deck, it radiates heat onto itself. Could overheat. Also, if you are driving too much of a load... say running a couple of subs in parallel (say 2 ohm load) when the amp is only rated down to a 4 ohm load, it will overheat. Thats just a start, it could be other things... hope this helps.

Default yea it is a good idea but...

it is mounted upside down but I havent had a problem with it overheating in the summer and today was in the 60's. It was also on morning talk radio when it went out this morning.
