well thats kevins a4.... soon with a FMIC and bigger injectors and stuff... allready runs a K04 under the hood.

i decided to do my tie rod ends, engine coolant temp sensor and dual rear fogs and a diy swiss cheese wheel liner thingie.
so here are some pics as always. i ordered the ecs heavy duty tie rods ends a while back and went with the instructions to change them as in the tech section. i would rate it a 2.5 if at all. it seems harder than it really is, believe me. all unless, you run into the same problem as i did.

comparism of the old tie rod ends with the heavy duty versions: the ecs ones are way heavier than the original ones and also way thicker than OEM. i noticed though that the ecs ones dont have any grease inside the rubber portion of the tie rods.

the blue caps are tread protectors btw that come with the tie rods. everything went pretty smooth on the drivers side 2 bolts to remove and 1 nut to turn. pretty straight forward.
when reinstalling the tierod it helps to get the thing back into the assembly by using a hex key and turning the connector part while trying to push it back in. i will send an email to the tech section about that. it makes the job as easy as cake.
<img src="http://www.stephankuehl.com/100b/PICT0187.JPG">
the passenger tie rod was hard and stubborn as hell so i didnt get that done at all. pb blaster didnt help. and a torch wasnt available so i had to leave it. maybe will do on sunday. i will explain later.
<img src="http://www.stephankuehl.com/100b/PICT0183.JPG">
<img src="http://www.stephankuehl.com/100b/PICT0184.JPG">
as i was trying and pb blaster eating through the rust i decided to do some other mods as well:

dual rear fog lights: sounds stupid but what de heck. i had to replace my broken drivers tailight so while i am in there lets do the dual rear fog modification.
<img src="http://www.stephankuehl.com/100b/PICT0178.JPG">
the passenger tail light has the connector for the fog light. all you have to do is use a dremel tool and make the square on the R in the picture a round whole. also helps to use the bulb as a size guide while u are dremeling.
<img src="http://www.stephankuehl.com/100b/PICT0180.JPG">
thats how the finished product looks dremeld
and this is how it lights up... lol just as the left
<img src="http://www.stephankuehl.com/100b/PICT0181.JPG">

the last mod of the day is my DIY swiss cheese wheel liner. i think ive seen this someone else but dont quote me. does it work? i dont know yet. kevin got the laptop and the vag-com so ill update everyone on it.
<img src="http://www.stephankuehl.com/100b/PICT0188.JPG">
driver wheel liner before the swiss invasion

the intercooler behind it
<img src="http://www.stephankuehl.com/100b/PICT0192.JPG">
the swiss cheese or shotgun shell mod after i was done with it.

i also replaced my old black coolant temp sensor with the newer green coolant temp sensor. on the 1.8T it sits on the upper part of the engine near the battery on a rubber flange mounted on the back of the engine. removal and reinstall is like 2 mins. pull the clip, pull the sensor and gasket. install new gasket and install the sensor and put the clip back in. voila. DONE! 2 mins at the max. its easier than changing spark plugs, believe it or not.

<img src="http://www.stephankuehl.com/100b/PICT0193.JPG">
this i what kevin has in the works right now..

i will maybe tackle the passenger tie rod on sunday. the problem that i had/have is that the tie rod itself is slightly moveable where the thread connected is. so i turn to try to get the tierod off and the whole thing turns with it. sorry cant describe it better had some beers tonight allready. but ill keep everyone updated.

Default nice! I had a mod day myself...but i started at 7pm.

Took out the 1200w lamp and started working. I lowered my EvoMS FMIC 2 inches, painted the pipes also.

That looks great Ed. Do you have any pics of the bracket that you used to lower it?
