Default So we know th e97 MAF is different than the 99 MAF, yet ECUs are interchangable
Anyone have an explanation for exactly why/how the 97 maf is different....

kind of a curiosity of mine over the years, that I put to the test tonight...

Default iirc the max grams/sec is lower on the 97....
iirc this is why you need to change to the new one to run APR stage3 equipment.

that's all i have found too... just curious if the whole range is different or just the max value

Default Most likely just the max reading seeing that plenty of 97 owners have upgraded to the newer ndbw maf
without making any changes to the chip they were running.

Default yeah a quick search found that giac made a custom chip for people who swapped mafs
hmmm...
so now the question becomes why will my car not idle...I'm thinking fuel.

Are you still running the stock maf housing or a larger housing using the stock sensor?
