Default Solving minor pinging problems in APR chipped 1.8T...(more, a bit long)

Here's the problem: with the APR 1 bar chip, I had been experiencing some minor pinging under full-throttle application below 2500 rpm (heard as 2 or 3 'clicks'). The problem seemed to occur mainly when the engine was HOT (oil temp around 220), and the outside temp was 90+ degrees F (I'm in San Antonio, TX).
After some experimentation, I found a solution! Add approx. 16oz. of Turbo 108 octane boost (made by North American Oil Co.) to a full tank of 93 octane fuel (I used Mobil premium). The result? ABSOLUTELY NO PINGING! The engine seems to run smoother and pull a bit harder too. I tried a couple other octane boost formulas, but none of them worked as well as Turbo 108 (and, no, I don't work for them or hold stock in their company).
Pep Boys sells a 32 oz. can of Turbo 108 for $6.99 (enough for 2 tankfulls).

Default Try other fuels

I prefer Chevron, but I've heard that Texaco pings less too. My car runs like crap when I use Mobil, their oil is great but their gas isn't very consistent from my experience.
Todd W

I've posted often about 108 Octane Booster -- I use it in the summer in Phoenix when it is routinely over 100 degrees to get my Wett 1.0 bar 1.8T running better.

Try a Wetterauer 1.0 - you'll NEVER have pinging problems with 93 octane!

I've tried Texaco, Chevron, Exxon, and Shell...Mobil seems to be best so far.--nt

Hmm..Terry D (below) seems to disagree. Either you live in a milder climate or you don't know what to listen for.--nt

Fact is that if you live where it is regularly 95+ degrees, you may get some pinging no matter the brand of chip. There are testimonials both ways for every chip.

Default You're not treating the problem, just the symptoms

YOu're problem is probably carbon deposits on you're pistons raising your compression ratio. I live in S Florida and have never had pinging with my chip. I run Techron ful aditive once every 3K miles and have never had detonation.
Try 2 bottles consecutively and see if that helps.
