Default Some questions related to cold air...

Okay boys... I've got a couple quick questions for ya...

1.) Which one of these would help the most in counteracting (eliminating) the negative effects of hotter atmospheric temperature on performance: CAI (yes, I know how rare a good CAI setup is for 1.8T's) or FMIC?

2.)Is there significant benefit to be gained by adding a FMIC to a car still running a K03?

3.)Have any of you successfully improved on your stock airbox? (I've read all about the failed attempts) I was thinking of trying to improve on the heat shielding... will this yeild any benefit?

Thanks guys... I just need a little clarification here... Your assistance is appreciated!

Default CAI doesn't help with reducing hot ambient temps.

CAI just means it doesn't suck in hot engine/turbo air. FMIC is one of 3 measures to reduce intake air temp post compression. The other two are water/alcohol injection or intercooler misting.

2. YES! SEARCH

3. Probably but minimal... stock airbox works decently well to ensure the air being sucked in is as close to ambient as possible

Default there is a great airbox mod on VWVortex. It actually pulled higher mass flows of air than a "CAI"..

and it was grabbing it from a "cooler source" I can't find the link in my favorites...but just do a search in the 1.8T Technical forum over there

Default here...

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=425307 this is a good one about ITG filters. I am going to try the mod, then do some runs at stock/KN, modded/KN, modded/ITG and see how it changes airflow and intake temps.

Airbox Mod Link
