some slippage in clutch...

If I rev the car too high, 3000 and drop clutch engine will just rev and clutch will slip. It never slips at low RPMs (normal/slower acceleration). I am getting APR chip finally and am wondering if I should anticipate more slippage (due to more torque..). Is there something actually wrong with my clutch or am I just not using it correctly..?? This is the only clutch I have ever driven and I taught myself on it.. main point, should my clutch slip when clutch let out at that high RPM or is it almost cashed..

If I release clutch later (higher RPM) and it slips (for first time), it will slip once I shift to 2nd gear and accelerate hard (with clutch completely out) once I drive normal (no dropping clutch) for few mins it goes back to normal it seems... that make sense??

you cant dump the clutch like youre saying sinec our cars are AWD. No material can stand that for very long. the clutch (whatever the hell its made out of) heats up and grinds away at itself and forms a slippery surface almost over the clutch. driving normal makes it go away until your clutch is ready to die, then itll slip all the time.
if youre gonna dump it, feather it. rev above average, but only let the clutch out a certain percent, like 30. then increase RPMs as you let more clutch out. youll still launch, but if you do it right, wont kill the clutch so much and you wont get that rancid smell.

thanks for explaining that, so in essence i was trying to launch to abruptly and clutch just spinning "glazing." So feather and no problems, this clears up some of my worries, thanks again!

the point of the questioning... did i most likely cause permanent damage or is it fine as long as its not slipping normally?? is it safe to go ahead and put in APR ECU?

and haven't had a problem yet. I've autox'd and tracked teh car and haven't had an issue. I'm now at 113k on the stock clutch.
Once the glazing wears off, which shouldn't take too long, you'll be fine. Just don't 3k drop it anymore without feathering the clutch more![Wink](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
I'd say drop in the ECU. Just watch how ya launch... the suggestion above on how to do it is as good of advice as I can think of. I've been trying to teach my cousin how to launch his '04... he still thinks he needs a better clutch to do it
