some thoughts on mont tremblant circuit.

This is a very technical course, much to the point that I felt uncomfortable during my first session, especially turn 1. its not till your 2nd lap that you really notice just what sort of masochistic piece of work turn 1 really is. Watching the more experienced groups enter turn 1 without braking was a mind bending epiphany of sorts. It just DOESNT make sense to go down hill slightly off camber around a turn at 75mph or faster... at the end of a straight.
Entering turn 2 you are ascending a wavy length of tarmac which peaks and then takes you downhill into turn 3.
Turn 3 really isnt much of a turn its just important that you line it up right so you can make a straight shot braking line into turn 4.
turn 4 sets up about half of the track, either you get it... or you dont. Driver side wheels to the outside of the divets near the edge of the track.. then turn in smoothly and hold for what seems to be forever as you rotate into the quickie of a straight that separates 4 and 5.
Getting 5 right means getting on the power as soon as possible and carrying WOT right till you get to 7... 6 might as well be a straight line.
7 is pretty wide and can be taken at some speed.. not too much braking is really needed. Just use the curbing and you're good.
7 into 8 is just a good curvy runway to accelerate.
8 is all about slow in FAST out. Carry too much speed in and you will be on the grass, turn in points vary by car as does the apex.
9 might as well not exist, just stay to the left and hang with the curbing.
10... turn in for me was a little bit after the cone, you MUST get this turn right to make it to the bridge on line. Too fast or too soon puts you too wide into 11 and you dont have the weight distribution correct to apex at 11 as late as you need to in order to be looking at the bridge rather than the numerous paint marks on the wall left by offs.
Getting 11 right means turning in later than seems to make sense given how fast I was going through there. It works but its kinda strange.. oh and its on a decline too.
Between 11 and 12 you're going uphill and you can feel the car's suspension load up at the lowest point "gulch".
Turn 12 is under the bridge and its pretty much blind till you're there. It has a high inner curb which can upset some cars. This opens out into a curving straight which you accelerate through.
Turn 13 is largely non-existant... just let the car drift out wards towards namerow and start braking as you ascend uphill towards the turn in point for turn 14.
Turn 14 can be nasty and people have rolled cars on it before. Your car determines where you can accelerate and turn in. Its a very sharp turn and its very downhill right at the apex... it feels like you are GOING uphill then as you let off the brakes snap the downshift you are immediately cranking the wheel close to 180* and soon after flooring it to accelerate into turn 15.
turn 15 is a breeze compared to 14, you just hold throttle and turn the wheel.
Main straight is short.. very short. If you dont initiate a pass early dotn think about doing one at the middle of it because you will be all sorts of fvcked come turn 1.
Now you're entering turn 1 going 75mph and well it looks all sorts of wrong, you're not supposed to be on the edge of the course because well the turn in point is really not where you would think and the apex is not even visible from the turn in point.

Always had tire squeal going up that hill trying to stay close to the inside so I could swing out to the outer side of the track before entering the next corner.

this year was kinda messed up...with turning 21 and all, spent too much money on alcohol, and too much time being drunk.
but do I regret it? no way!

which has a more obvious flow. Even the nasty parts of the glen are predictable compared to Mont Tremblant which doesnt feel intuitive at all.
