Toyo T1-S! Should be about the same as SP9000's, but a much better tire.

Default SP9000 for good touring tire. RE730 for a more performance oriented tire.

I haven't driven the SP9000, but I hear it's not as good a performer as the SP8000E. On the other hand, it is supposed to be quiet and comfortable, have good tread life, and be good in wet conditions.

I personally went with Bridgestone RE730's. They're like the SP8000's but a little better ... a little better grip, wet performance, and a little quieter. They also have a much better treadwear rating than the SP8000 or SP9000.

Default Stepfather has SP5000's on his STS, he's very satisfied...

I have D60's on my Galant and also am very satisfied. Nobody makes touring tires like Dunlop.

Default Try SP8000 in 205/55 or 225/50 Z16. Only $85 at Discount Tire or Tire

Rack. Can't beat the price and a better dry performer than Re730, D60A2, or SP5000. The Sp9000 is great in the rain, but you said $$ is a factor and I'm pretty sure the SP9000 costs more.
