Default Spare ECU

Does everyone in this forum with chip installed on their car have a spare ECU? I have GIAC chip installed on my 2000 A4 1.8T, but I'm wondering if it's necessary to get a spare ECU when I go back to the factory for service and how much it will cost me to get a spare ECU?

Default While not necessary, spare ECU's are a good idea if you can afford it.

IMHO, For 2 reasons:

1. You're dealer is chip UNfriendly.
2. The situation that I can relate to, where I had an ECU problem (chip came loose). I just plugged in the spare ECU and sent off the chipped ECU back to APR. That way you avoid hassels and downtime.
