I just recently waffled a rim from a hitting a large unmarked construction site. With an '01, I have a full size spare with the same wheel and tire. The dealer swapped this on in place of the damaged rim and aligned my car. The car drives fine now -- no shaking or pulling up to 80mph.

My question is what should I do now? I plan on sending a letter to the town demanding that they pay, but I am not expecting a full reimbursement.

1) get bent wheel straightened and buy new tire ($100 wheel + ??? straightening) Would you trust a fixed alloy wheel?

2) buy new budget wheel and budget tire ($200)

3) buy replacement OEM wheel and new tire ($250)

4) new OEM wheel from dealer ($520)

I have an extra set of wheels/tires for winter so for now I have a reliable spare, but I want to get back to a dedicated spare.

The budget wheel idea seems odd, because no matter what season it is, the rims won't match if I use the spare. But hey, its better than a donut, right?

a steelie wheel in a 15 is like 40-50 bucks plus a great 15 inch speed rated tire is like 60 bucks...100-110 bucks

I was still looking at alloys and performance rubber, I guess I could go much lower
