Default Spark Plugs...easy to change?

That is rather surprising, considering many A4 (B5) owners have used the +4 for many miles/kilometres without any problems. If the plugs were the incorrect heat range or reach, it may be possible to have this type of condition. I would recommend against using other brands, especially NGK as I have seen several vehicles, including Audis, have performance issues when using those plugs.

Do you have any Engine error codes that show up if a VAG-COM tool is connected to your vehicle?

Default which plugs

So it sounds like NGK, Bosch +2 or +4 work fine when you get the right ones. That shouldn't be a surprise. Anyway, does anyone want to recommend a "good" plug with part number and their engine spec.

I have a 2001 A4 with the 2.8 engine. I've had the car for just over a year and haven't changed the plugs. I pulled a couple of them last week (NGK) and they are looking worn. So, I'm ready to replace mine, but I would like some recommendations.

Thanks,
Brian

Brian,

Perhaps the best way to ensure you have the correct spark plugs for your vehicle is go to one of the better-know Internet vendors who can provide a list of choices based on your VIN and engine code.

According to a manual that I have, the 2.8 DOHC uses the NGK BKR6EKUB dual-electrode plug, gapped at 0.063". $5.64 at autohausaz, as I wrote my SOHC 2.8 has the Bosch dual-electrodes #7402 ($2.57) and no complaints.
