Default Speaking of E46 (AWD)Comparisons...

I wonder how the new 2002 220hp A4 2.8 Quattro will stack up against the 225hp Bimmer 330Xi. Looks like a dead heat to me, but I guess we'll have to wait and see about that. Any thoughts?

To the average buyers, AWD is AWD is AWD.

Default You mean 2002 A4 3.0 no 2.8 anymore.

I think the A4 will take the cake, if it has the sport package, because the 330xi isn't available with a sports package.

BMW had AWD in late 80s and early 90s, but they are starting over with this design.

Subaru has a decent system too...wouldn't count them out of the *best* battle for AWD

Default Check out Car and Driver...

They had a wagon comparison (1.8T got 1st place, 325 xi 2nd, Passat 3rd, Sub H-6 last). They decided to see which AWD system was better. The A4 was slowest since it had the SP8000's. Then they swapped all OEM tires with identical sized Dunlop winter sports (cant remember the tire name) and the A4 improved it's lap time by over 45 seconds! Needless to say, it was the fastest and therefore the best AWD system.
