Pretty much. While they like to recommend their coolant, most cases you'll be fine with the green.

Default I would not rely on colour to determine the chemistry.

Some are obvious, like Pink and Yellow, but Green is a crapshoot.

He recommended g-05, and you used conventional green, or is it green g-05? most g-05 is clear-ish

Default Brown sludge is supposedly formed when Dex/G-12 gets mixed with air in a leaky system.

...and G-05 is best dexcribed as "lightly" silicated.
