Sport Seat wiggle Advice, Please
I just got my car back after my disappointing 7500 mile service. (Another story). I had asked if the power drivers seat could be "tightened", as there is a slight amount of fore/aft motion. If I had to estimate, I would guess it's about 1/4 inch and it rarely bothers me.
The service man has ordered a new lower seat frame, but I wonder if it will do any good. Perhaps a bit of play is necessary, and I'm not so keen on the mechanics messing with the seat. I would rather hold off for a couple of years and get the new lower seat frame a little closer to the end of the warranty period. I doubt that the replacement will help fix this problem.
Anyone out there been down this road yet?
Thanks,
Eric

Re: Sport Seat wiggle Advice, Please
I had a slight wiggle in my non-power sport seat while driving through corners. The dealer tech replaced a seat bushing that had cracked slightly. That cured it in my case.
Sean
97 1.8Tqm

Sean's A4 Page

I had new seat frame installed . . .
Hey Eric,
My passenger front sport seat (non-power) in my 1.8t had a fore-aft motion when accelerating and braking with a passenger in the seat. This movement was accompanied by a "click" everytime the seat moved. I had thought it was a seat rail problem, but when my dealer had a look, it turned out to be the seat frame. They ordered in a new frame and sent it to be installed at an upholstery shop. Problem solved.
There is a little bit of play in the seat rail. However, when you sit in the seat, it should not move or "click".
Hope this helps.

James Wu
A4 Club of Vancouver
1998 Black/Onyx 1.8tqa

A4 Club of Vancouver
