Default From the pics, I doubt things'll be so bad that you'll need to replace the subframe...

But if you replace all that I mentioned, you should probably be able to get the alignment close to the right specs, if not all the way. Like I said, I didn't have to replace mine... But, my upright was bent (I could definitely confirm) and my CAs were done in. It's a decently involved procedure, but it's not that difficult. You'll have to take off your rear brake line to get the lower CA off.

Refer to this to get the upright off:
Tech Article.

Call up one of those used parts places (I got mine from Shokan... I had no issues, but you may wanna try some other ppl) and get a quote for a rear upright. They'll know what you're talking about. Then order a wheel bearing from World Impex and when you get both of those, take 'em to a shop (not Midas - they'll charge you $150+) to press the bearing in. CAs will have to be ordered new. Look around the classifieds and the classifieds on Audizine - there's a chance someone will be selling new ones. Don't forget the toe-in link (I have no idea what the 'official Audi' name is), and of course, your wheel is almost certainly bent. Gotta replace it.

Good luck, and feel free to continue to take pics and post if you run into trouble w/the install/removal.

I think the name for the upright is bearing housing, or something like that. Could also be "knuckle"

Default I haven't had one of those in a long time.. Actually, since I had my learner's permit..

Was driving back home from Sugarbush on RT100 in our old 5000s, and while crossing a very small bridge, hit some black ice and for some reason, the rear end decided it wanted to pass the front.

After what seemed like a lifetime of sawing at the wheel, I got it under control..

Now I know, when in doubt, just floor it, and let it drive itself straight.

Default your description of events != you have "pushed the car to the max"

no offense brah, but unless the oil slick got all 4 wheels... 60mph, around a slight bend.. you fish tailed 3 times?

it's not that hard to push a car to a point where you aren't in ****

a good driver is one who gets in **** and can pull out of it

i'm nowhere close, so don't take this as a "i'm > you"

just a little humbleness may help you avoid future situations

Default true true.. just suprised.. I used to live 20 minutes up a windy mountain highway... so in compariso

n this was just weird.

... i know 3 times at 60mph is weird. Damn Los Angeles oil covered freeways.

funny thing is- my friend from minnesota told me i shoulda done one thing. Where another friend who grew up drifting in france told me the complete opposite.

Oh well, at least I'm not dead

Default this looks bent, or rather not sitting straight- where the lower control arm hooks up...
