Default squeaking driving me nuts. I've definetly identified WHEN it happens. Help me figure out WHAT it is

High pitched squakeing sound from the front of the car
ONLY present when driving straight.
As soon as steeering wheel is turned slightly (45deg.?) left or right , the sound dissapears completely.
Speed bumps do not affect it.
Seems somewhat speed sensitive

Based on this im thinking it is not control arms (no affect from speed bumps)

Does it seem like a bad front wheel bearing(s) , would they only make the sound when steering wheel is straight and dissapear when turning?

Help.

Default power steering?

Squeal much different than intermittent squeak. It's not your suspension if it's a constant squeal. If it goes away when you turn, maybe steering related? Then I'd say brakes. Then wheel bearing. Maybe a belt.

Default

Brake shields (more likely) or pads? How about touching the brakes? Change then?

that doesn't mean it's not the brakes.

Default not saying that it is'nt....but still not sure what it is

the definites are

sound dissapears when applying brakes or when turrning
sound not affected my speedbumps

all this only seems to eliminate it being the control arms

might be the brakes , power steering , wheel bearnings.

im going to have to start taking stuff apart now.

Default I would put money on brake pads. Are they old? If new, are they "glued" in?

These are my pads when I removed them @ 32K miles or so. They also squeaked in a similar way as you describe. (That's two pads... in four pieces!) ;-(
