it just caught my attention today when i heared a faint squeek a springy squeek when i step on the clutch all the way in my001.8QM. is this a normal problem, searching in the archives had the more serious noises when people were releasing in 1st or 2nd gear, but for me it's only when i step down all the way, a little noise. can i lubricate it in anyway and where would i do that? WD40???
all comments are helpful thanks

Only it was in a Jetta 1.8T. It makes that noise that you are describing (The one that sounds like a mammoth landed on a simmens beauty-rest) He just laughed at it; his dealer said it wasn't a problem.
By the way, the Jetta and A4 have the same bodies.
(And of course are made by VW

I had this problem with mine. Dealer oiled pedal / spring around 15,000 and noise went away. Squeek came back and dealer replaced clutch master cylinder at about 20,000 miles. Noise is back again (38,000). I have resorted to just turning the stereo up.

My 96 A4 waited until 65000 miles to start the clutch pedal squeek. I've tried greasing all the moving parts of the pedal, but it comes right back.
According to the mechanic at the local dealer,
You have to replace the master cylinder, the part costs $190, and it's a royal pain in the butt to do the job. If anyone ever finds a better solution I'd love to hear it.
