I've seen some pics of a crazy rearview mirror install of the V1's remote, an ashtray install of the Escort Passport SRX, and an install of the BEL 975r.

I'm looking to purchase any of the following, but I have to have a stealth install: Valentine V1 ~ $375, Escort 8500 ~$250, Escort SRX ~$750 (anyone know if laser is used in NOVA?), Escort SR7 ~$580, BEL 985 ~$230, BEL 975r ~$375.

Yes, I know that the SRX, SR7 and 975r are remotes, and I've read about reduced range (due to line of sight and traffic, as their antennas most likely have more gain); however, to be realistic, any of those detectors will give you ample warning. The BEL 975r seems to me to be the best deal out of the bunch, the SRX jams laser, V1 has the radar locator. All of them are excellent radar detectors. (Trying to avoid a flamewar about the "best" detector)

The reason I'm not looking at only remotes is that it would be nice to be able to either remove the detector to use in another car or save some $$$.

Please post your comments, suggestions, experiences, rants, installs, etc. TIA.

check my pic poster. i live in falls church, VA and I keep my v1 right at the top oif the windshield. i ran the wires down the a pillar and then installed the remote in my center console right above my headunit.
