My car is making a creaking/ grinding noise when turning the wheel to the right. This appears to be coming from the steering column and to be audible only from within the car both while stopped or when moving at slower speeds requiring greater turns (i.e. parking garages, turning from stop). The noise is apparent with the car on as well as shut off so I therefore assume (??) the problem not to be the steering pump. The noise does not occur when turning to the left; the car just turned 60k miles. Any help feedback at all is greatly appreciated.
Yes, the power steering fluid is full.

Appears to be closer to the base of steering column -- that is if I turn the wheel w/ car stopped and poke my head down to floorboard to listen, sounds like it's coming from firewall area, not from the wheel/tire area.
