steering wheel controls for tiptronic

now i don't want to get into a manual vs. auto war here, but how does everone like the steering wheel controls for the tip? (the come with the sport package on the 2001's)

I find the buttons in a very awkward position to operate, relative to where I like to keep my hands on the wheel. As a long time manual driver before I got my A4, I naturally prefer to use the shifter when I drive in manual mode.
BTW, I think the sport wheel is standard on all 2001 A4's, not just with the sport package. I don't have the sport package and I have the sport wheel.

probably wouldnt go back to stick. I have nothing against stick its just I drove an 1989 911 carrera for ten years and an Audi 90 stick-shift and I have had enough of it.
