Default steering wheel leather deterioration

has anyone with a 2000 A4 (with the smooth steering wheel leather grain) ever experienced a deterioration in the leather on their wheel? mine seems to be cracking and dried out in certain places. i complained about this to the Audi representative, but they insist that this is normal for the leather, and refused to replace the wheel under warranty. What should I do?

Default Wow, that seems too premature that the leather would be that bad in a year....

Does your audi sit in the hot direct sun a lot with the windows rolled up? My last car had this sun damaged spot on the steering wheel where the sun would hit it directly based on where I parked during the day. But your wheel looks nothing like the damage I had. I do use leather cleaner and conditioner on my wheel once every 3 months but I only started doing it when I took ownership of my current Audi.

Default ive had mine 2 1/2 years now, and it looks pretty damn good....

all i do is clean the interior regularly, i dont tolerate dust and dirt inside. i never have conditioned the leather, only cleaned it with the same old armor-all stuff (being careful to prevent shine). mine looks essentially brand new. somethings up.

Could be that you have a funky body chemistry that reacts with the leather. Not that uncommon a prob
