Default Still having issues with my boost gauge...

Some of you may recall my recent issues with my boost gauge. Here's a recap...

Few months ago, boost gauge started acting weird, and registering low boost. Over time, the max readings got lower and lower.
Car runs 100% fine. Shop verified boost levels and also checked for leaks.

Thinking it was the gauge, I bought a new one from AWE. Installed it. Now I get ZERO reading on the gauge at all. Figure I screwed something up when installing the new gauge.

In the meantime, I hooked up the old gauge to my air compressor. The gauge works JUST FINE.

I must have a pinched line somewhere in the system. How TF do I find it, so I can get my gauge working again?!

THanks,
P.

Default well...just follow the line and look for kinks.

that may involve taking your car apart, but it's nothing too hard

Default Do you have a nylon line?

When installing mine I've noticed that it is very easy to overtighten compression nuts thus squeezing the nylon line to the point of no flow.

Default Hmmm... you just reminded me of something!

I may have possibly overtightened the compression nut at the gauge. How tight should it be? Finger-tight? Wrench tight?
I am also wondering if I may have pinched the braided line under the hood.

When Todd@AWE originally installed the gauge several years ago, he used a T-fitting to tap off a vac line underneath the plastic engine cover. Only two sides of the T-fitting had zip-ties to hold the tube on the T-fitting. When I realized this a few months ago, I put another zip tie on the 3rd connection.

I don't remember if this was before or after the gauge quit working. But I'm wondering if I may have damaged that line. Thanks for the reminder!
Time to check my connections.

Default After I've installed mine I was wandering the same thing...

So, I just took it apart to see. It might take you a couple of tries to get it right, so just get extra 4-6 of those compression inserts (don't remember what hardware store people call them) as they are not reusable. When redoing the line you will need to cut off the piece with the old compression insert. Do it often and pretty soon you will be out of nylon line...lol!
