Default Still need help on my wheel noise...

I'm getting a sound that starts at around 60 mph, basically only hear it on the freeway, that you could describe as blowing air over a hollow coke bottle. The sound comes and goes so it's not consistent. I purchased a wheel bearing but my mechanic said they listened to the bearings with their stethescope thingy and didn't hear anything. It usually only occurs on concrete, not asphalt, especially on rough textured concrete. Also, usually gets worse going up/down hill. Car has had the same noise w/three different sets of tires so it's not the tires. I have just had the tie-rod ends replaced. Could it be control arm related? The wheel that sounds like the culprit did hit a curb pretty hard when I had an accident 2 or so years ago but i'm not sure if it was doing it before the accident. Any clues?

Default I may have a similar problem, when I replaced my wheel bearing...

last year the noise was a constant thumping noise, kind of like the blowing noise of a coke bottle you are talking about. Best way to detect if it is your wheel bearing is drive on a road that is wide, coast at a low speed, turn your wheel from left to right down the road, if the noise comes on and off as you turn then it is your wheel bearing.

If you turn right with noise then its your left wheel bearing, and if you turn left its your right.

Default Doesn't always apply. Mine would not change when moving back and fourth like that.

But after they were replaced, it got a lot quieter.
