Stinky Clutch

Can't the clutch in my 2000 A4 1.8Q (5500 miles) stand any mild hot-rodding? Twice now I've smelled burnt clutch while turning/parking/maneuvering at slow speed with medium engine revs (2500-3000).
This happened when I was rather PO'd and it just tended to make me more so. I don't remember my earlier cars running like this. I've driven 300,000+ miles with clutches; my last car, a 1991 Audi 90, had an automatic, which was a mistake.
So, is this just my recent lack of experience with clutch or is this clutch delicate?
thanks!

I slipped the hell out of my clutch in autocross and never could smell a thing. The clutch is well matched for everything but drag racing. You may be smelling the all so common, and queried as nauseum, cat/cosmoline coating burning off. Cluch smells like clutch or old style brake linings, coating smells like burning plastic, pretty different.

clutch without knowing it. A little over 2K rpm's is all you should need. I try to keep it so the engine is almost lugging but doesn't.
