Quicksilver-A4

Sometimes my car won't start without giving it a little gas. When I start it first thing in the morning, it blows out a puff of gray smoke that lasts for about 30 seconds. And finally, the coolant temp gauge stays only around 1/4 up the gauge (it used to always sit at the 1/2 way mark after a few minutes of driving).

I brought it to the dealer today and they said that there was a little oil in the intercooler lines which was causing the smoke. They said this often happens over time (100k miles)and cleaned the lines. But, the car is still having problems starting. I've replaced the fuel pump and fuel pump relay, but no luck. I'm guessing that I need to replace the coolant temp sensor, but will that help with the starting issues too? Nothing is leaking anywhere on the car but I've noticed that the spark plugs seem to have a little more soot than you'd typically expect to see.

then worry about the starting. maybe some fuel injector cleaner? i think im gonna do some injector cleaner myself, so if someone knows somethin good to run through my car, let me know

I am having trouble starting as well. I haven't noticed any smoke, though. I've taken it to the dealer 3 times and they cannot replicate the problem, since it doesn't happen all the time. I crank for about 5 seconds, it won't start, then I crank it again, it starts, shakes and cuts off. Third time usually starts it. The dealer has replaced the fuel pump, but it didn't help. They don't know what's wrong, and my warranty expires very soon.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
