Strange noise..only when starting and in low gears at low rpm, I hear a rattiling. No leaks...

Strange noise..only when starting and in low gears at low rpm, I hear a rattiling. No leaks...
Just a loud rattle sound then it goes away but it has gotten worse lately. Any ideas?

I’m still gonna say Chain tensioner(s) thats of course if your 3.0tdi has chains.
Noise will reduce or go when warm because the oil is thinner and has whipped around the crankcase. Sometime won’t make noise on really cold starts (?)
is it a noise that lasts for about 2-3 seconds (?)
noise will get worse as the guides wear more and more.
big job. Gearbox needs removing for a start. Got mine done for 1500 Euros so wasn’t too bad. Audi quoted 4000€
