Default Another option is to use heilcoil inserts - drill and tap a hole for it then the existing bolt will

work

Default I've taken stuff to Lowe's...

they have threaded fittings on the wall...you can screw it into the fitting to determine the specs of the bolt/hole. I'm not sure if they will have one that large, but they mostly likely have a tool that can measure the bolt to determine the size of the tap you'll need.

Default would anyone recommend a helicoil?...

Helicoil's seem to be stainless steel which would make it harder to strip than alluminum?

it doesnt seem like that is his problem.

Default try using some teflon plumbers tape on the threads to tighten and seal.

eventually you'll want a more permanent fix.

also...replace the plug.

Default I think he's saying the bolt just spins when he gets to the last two threads...

The only way the bolt is going to spin is if all the threads are chewed. If that's the case, there isn't enough torque on the bolt to seal the oil in the pan. Another washer becomes decorative more than anything else.
