Does anyone know what size hex key is needed to remove the front license plate bracket on the '99 A4? My bracket has 3 hex screws (aka allen bolts) securing the plastic bracket to the front bumper cover, and I've tried several metric and US wrenches, but none of them fit! HELP!

Are you sure they aren't torx screws?

My dealer took mine off today - they're 3mm

When I took mine off I discovered that in order to drill into the metal beneath the plastic facade, the dealer had drilled three 12mm+ holes in the plastic! Not only that, they had messed up on one of them so they'd actually drilled it twice, leaving a figure 8 cutout. Unfortunately it came from a lot out of state before it got to my dealer and it was already like that when it arrived so I can't complain to the seller. Hopefully yours isn't like this - but be prepared!<br>

Mine are definitely NOT Torx screws...they're hexagon-shaped, not star-shaped

I tried 3mm...too big, and 2.5 mm was too small....WIERD!!!

i used a star key on my plates, instead of the hex
